DeKalb Grady Health Center
DeKalb Grady Health Center is located in southeast Atlanta, DeKalb County. It has served the community of south DeKalb, Kirkwood, Atlanta in DeKalb and Decatur for 25 years. A number of services are available including pediatric well-child and sick visits; adult preventive and primary care medicine; and OB-GYN services. Other services available include optometry services; nutritional services; social services; and a pharmacy on-site.

There are five full-time adult clinicians, two full-time pediatric clinicians, and 7 part-time providers. The clinical staff consists of:

 

Mary Acklin, PNP has been at DeKalb Grady since 1977. She graduated from the University of Alabama, Birmingham in 1975 as a pediatric nurse practitioner. In 1985, she obtained a MSN from
Georgia State University.

Niloofar Bazargan, M.D. obtained her medical degree from School of Medicine, University of Ancona, in Ancona, Italy in 1993. She did an Internal Medicine residency at Atlanta Medical which she completed in 1999. Dr. Bazargan did a postdoctoral fellowship in Nutrition and Metabolism at Emory University for two years. Dr. Bazargan was board certified in Internal Medicine in 1999. She has been at DeKalb Grady since 2001.

Dan Budnitz, M.D., MPH graduated with a BS from Harvard University. He went to Emory University School of Medicine where he obtained his MD degree as well as an MPH. He completed an Internal Medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and was board certified in Internal Medicine in 2001. He works for the CDC and has volunteered at DeKalb Grady since November 2002.

Joy Church, M.D. has been at DeKalb Grady since 1992. She obtained her undergraduate degree from New York University in 1979. She received her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine and completed her residency at Lutheran Medical Center in New York in 1986. She has been board certified since 1986.

Sam Dooley, M.D. graduated from the Medical College of Georgia and completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Virginia in 1984. Dr. Dooley has been board certified in Internal Medicine since 1985. He has been at DeKalb Grady since 1985 where he was a full-time clinician for a number of years. He now works for the CDC but has continued to see patients at DKG since 1988 as a volunteer.

Karen Duncan, M.D. has been at DeKalb Grady since 1985. She graduated from Smith College, obtained her medical degree at Emory University in 1982, and completed her residency in Pediatrics at the Case Western Reserve and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. Dr. Duncan was board certified in Pediatrics in 1989.

Henry Kahn, M.D. has been at DeKalb Grady since 1975. He obtained his medical degree from Harvard University and his residency in Internal Medicine was completed at Boston City Hospital and Lincoln Hospital-Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has been board certified in Internal Medicine since 1972. Dr. Kahn has published numerous articles and is a frequent lecturer around the world. Dr. Kahn worked at DeKalb Grady half-time for years and now works full time for the CDC and volunteers at DeKalb Grady.

Kenya Kearney, PA-C graduated with a BS from Alabama State University in 1996. She did postgraduate work at University of Alabama at Birmingham until 1998. Ms. Kearney obtained her masters and Physician Assistant degree from the Emory PA program in 2000 and is board certified. She has been at DeKalb Grady since May 2002.

Sandra Maryman, M.D. has been at DeKalb Grady since 1982 and has been the medical liaison of the health center since 1988. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Michigan State University in 1975. She received her medical degree at Michigan State University School of Human Medicine in 1979 . Dr. Maryman completed a Family Practice residency at Pennsylvania State University in Hershey Pennsylvania in 1982. She is board certified in Family Practice.

Susan Primo, O.D., MPH received her optometry degree from New England College of Optometry and her MPH from Emory University in 2002. She has been at DKG since 1992. She practices at DeKalb Grady as well as the Emory Eye Center and Grady Hospital where she specializes in low vision.

Eleanore Reiss, FNP, MN, MPH has been at DeKalb Grady since 1988. She obtained her BSN degree from Duke University in 1983. She then obtained her masters in Nursing and MPH from Emory University in 1987. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and has been a Certified Diabetic Educator since 1992.

Anna Steinberg, M.D. graduated from New York University with a BA in Biology in 1993. She obtained her medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1998. She completed an Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York in 2001. She has been board certified in Internal Medicine since 2001. Dr. Steinberg has been at DKG since August 2002.

Marilyn Washburn, M.D., PhD, MPH, has been at DeKalb Grady since 1979. She was a graduate of Emory University School of Medicine and the Rollins School of Public Health. She completed post graduate training in GYN/OB, Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice and certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. Dr. Washburn also holds a PhD with a primary focus on health and health ethics.

Kimberly Winzer, M.D. has been at DeKalb Grady since 1997. She graduated from Xavier University of New Orleans in 1983. In 1987 she graduated from Louisiana State University School of Medicine Medical School and completed a residency in Pediatrics at Emory. She then did a fellowship in Neonatology at Emory. Dr. Winzer was board certified in Pediatrics in 1995. .

Weigong Zhou, M.D.. PhD graduated from Beijing Medical University in Beijing P. R. China with an M.D. in 1984, and a PhD in 1989. He completed a residency in surgery at Beijing Medical University in 1989. He then completed a Family Practice residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2001. He was board certified in 2001. Dr. Zhou has published a number of publications and has done extensive research. He is employed full time at the CDC and has volunteered at DeKalb Grady since 2002.
