The Emory Family Medicine Residency Program is a university-based three-year training program in Atlanta, Georgia that received accreditation in 1995 from ACGME. Residents, faculty and staff serve the urban and suburban populations of metro-Atlanta. Each year, our program accepts 8 to 9 PGY 1/incoming residents. Our sponsoring hospital is Emory University at Midtown, and our primary training site is the Emory Family Medicine Clinic in Dunwoody, GA. The Clinic was awarded PCMH Level III recognition by the National Commission on Quality Assurance.
Residents complete their continuity clinics, didactics, and procedure clinics at the Dunwoody clinic but also rotate out through the community and surrounding medical centers to achieve their training. What really sets the program apart, though, is the culture. We foster personal, academic, and professional growth in all our residents by making time for bonding outside of regular duties. A few of our group activities include an annual retreat to the North Georgia Mountains, holiday parties, trips to the performing arts or sporting events, and access to Atlanta’s top attractions. Many of our residents join us from different cities, states, and countries so we make sure to introduce them to all that Atlanta has to offer while providing them a professional and personal support system.
