Dr Lakhani was born in Boston, but lived most of her life in Atlanta. She earned her medical doctor degree from Mercer University School of Medicine, Macon, GA
Her areas of clinical interest include: Chronic disease control and prevention, preventive care, public health. During her very little free time, she likes to jog, pray, listen to music, dance, spend time with family and friends, eat desserts, volunteer.
Dr. Lakhani choose Emory becasue of the breadth and depth of resources, teaching in nearly every discipline, and opportunities at Emory are amazing! I have interests in preventive care research and Emory will give me avenues to do that through our Clinic, Emory's Rollins School of Public Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which is just next door to Emory's main campus.
If she were not a physician, she might have chosen to be an outbreak investigator at the CDC. In addition to English, she speaks Spanish, Hindi, and Urdu
