Dr. Madu grew up in Nigeria, was awarded his medical degree by the University of Jos in Nigeria, his degree in osteopathic medicine from the NY College of Osteopathic Medicine, NY Institute of Technology and his Master of Public Health degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr. Madu chose Family Medicine as a specialty because of the rewarding long-term relationships a physician develops with patients and their families, the exposure to people across all life cycles, and he has a passion for helping patients take charge of their own health. Dr Madu chose Emory becuase during his interview visit to the Emory Family Medicine Residency Program, he observed the sincere relationship with staff and residents, that confirmed everyone was friendly, warm and welcoming. His goal for deciding which residency program to attend was based on an educational program that embodied excellent patient care balanced with high quality education for the residents.
Dr. Madu is married to a pharmacist who also lived in Nigeria, and they are currently expecting to welcome their first junior member of their family. They love leisure activities outdoors, participating in church activities and spending time with family and firends. Dr. Madu also enjoys playing golf, chess, table tennis, traveling new places and comedy, when he is not studying.
He says that if he had not chosen medicine as a career, he might have been an airline pilot. Dr Madu speaks Igbo, in addition to English.
