Georgia Preceptor Tax Incentive Program
Georgia HB 287 offers a new and expanded tax credit for preceptors, including advanced practice registered nurses and physician assistants.
Preceptors will earn a lesser amount for the first three rotations precepted, and the amount will increase for rotations 4-10.
Compensation
- Physicians will receive a $500 credit for each rotation for the first 3
- $1,000 each rotation for 4-10
This means that a physician preceptor who provided ten rotations would earn $8,500 in tax credits for the calendar year.
An APRN or PA preceptor would earn $375 for each of the first three rotations, and $750 for each rotation 4-10 for a total of $6375 in a calendar year.
The coordinator of your medical student's program/institution will keep track of and submit hours on your behalf.
*Registration as a preceptor is a ONE TIME registration process and needs only to be reaccessed if you need to update your personal information. Your tax letters will be mailed to the address you provide during the registration process. Please keep your information up to date.
