Observerships in Family Medicine:

The Department of Family and Preventive Medicine offers observership opportunities to both Emory and visiting medical students. We offer students the opportunity to observe and shadow Family Medicine clinicians in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.

All observerships must be cleared through the Nursing Office of Credentialing before any student can participate in an observership. Observership experiences extend 1-5 days, depending on the sponsor’s availability. Please note that observerships are only offered October – May of the following year. There is a $150 credentialing fee that must be paid to the Nursing Office of Credentialing prior to the start of your observership.

Emory Students: Please review the Emory Healthcare Observership Prerequisites and Steps for Emory Students to Observe at Emory Healthcare documents to ensure that you meet the minimum prerequisites before applying for an observership.

Visiting Students: Please complete the Observership Application Exhibits A-I.

All applications should be emailed to Porsha Clayton.
